India visit to promote ties: Chinese Premier

Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao says his India tour is aimed at promoting
mutual understanding and cooperation, as well as outlining the future
development of bilateral ties.
Wen Jiabao held talks with the government
officials of South India's Karnataka state after arriving at its capital city of
Bangalore late Saturday.
He expressed the hope that Bangalore would take
its own advantage to enhance cooperation with more Chinese cities.
Chief
Minister of Karnataka state Dharam Singh says India and China are mutually
complementary in economy, and Karnataka would like to enhance cooperation with
China on information technology, life science, agriculture, mining and other
fields.
The premier also met with staff of the Consulate-General of
China in Bombay and representatives from the Chinese enterprises and
organizations.
India is the final leg of Wen Jiabao's four-nation South
Asia tour which has taken him to Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. He is
heading for New Delhi Sunday afternoon.
