Concern over drug use among young people keeps escalating as new reports come in about kids stoned in public places on ketamine. There have been quite a few incidents lately.

Ten young people were arrested for drugs in the past two days. There was 24-year-old Ng, whose family called the police just past midnight yesterday, when the young woman became extremely agitated. The unhappy scene played out at home at King Yu House, King Lam Estate.

Ng was rushed off to Tseung Kwan O Hospital and later arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of drugs.

Ng is now free on HK$500 bail. She is scheduled to report back to police July 24.

Wednesday night, police arrested five men and two women during a drug raid in Yau Ma Tei. The suspects ranged in age from 15 to 29.

Police said 32 grams of so-called "ice" worth about HK$24,000 was found at an eatery at 577 Nathan Road.

One of the suspects, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion that he ran the drug den. A 16-year-old man was arrested for trafficking.

Around 5:30 Wednesday afternoon, a 24-year-old man was arrested in Tuen Mun for trafficking.

The police said when he was arrested the man was carrying a bag containing about 500 grams of ketamine, worth about HK$70,000. A 16-year-old girl was also arrested in Tuen Mun on Wednesday on suspicion of taking ketamine after school.

The girl attends Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Tuen Mun).

The school's principal, Ho Chi-keung, said he was shocked at the news. He pledged to help police find the person who gave the girl the drugs.
