8月3日，駐伊美軍在伊拉克西北部地區(qū)執(zhí)行任務(wù)時遭路邊炸彈襲擊，14名海軍陸戰(zhàn)隊隊員被打死。加上１日身亡的7名美軍士兵，3天內(nèi)就有20余名海軍陸戰(zhàn)隊員在幼發(fā)拉底河沿岸被打死。這是美軍自2003年伊戰(zhàn)以來在單一事件中遭受的最慘重傷亡。外電報道如下：A roadside bomb

near Haditha, Iraq, U.S. military officials said.
The military said the bomb struck the amphibious assault vehicle about
1 mile south of Haditha, a city along the Euphrates River about 135 miles
northwest of Baghdad. The military said one Marine was wounded.
The 14 Marines were all attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd
Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, the Pentagon said.
