Olympic flame nearing summit of Mt. Qomolangma

Li Zhixin, the commander-in-chief of the Beijing Olympic flame Qomolangma mountaineering team contacts with climbers carrying the flame en route to the summit from the base camp at the foot of the mountain May 8, 2008. The climbers started the final assault from the attack camp at 8,300 meters of the mountain at 3:00 am on Thursday and are expected to reach the summit at around 10:00 am. (Xinhua)
