The CPC Jilin Provincial Committee held a conference on economic work in Changchun, the capital of Jilin province in Northeast China, on Dec 25. The meeting summarized the economic work in 2020, analyzed the current situation, and deployed the economic work for next year.

Officials at the conference stated that this year, the province has responded effectively to the COVID-19 pandemic, achieved steady economic growth, optimized its industrial structure, achieved remarkable results in tackling three tough battles, made progress in reform and opening-up, improved people's livelihoods, achieved decisive achievements in building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, basically completed the main objectives and tasks of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), and explored a new development mode.

The meeting pointed out that the first things to do well in next year's economic work are to study and implement the important instructions of the CPC Central Committee, grasp scientific laws, adapt to the complex environment, implement the general requirements of the central committee for Jilin, focus on essential tasks, drive overall improvement with key breakthroughs, and promote the high-quality economic development of Jilin.

The conference also stressed the general requirements for economic work next year.

In 2021, the province will promote supply-side reform and demand-side management and accelerate high-quality economic and social development. Jilin will also implement a new development concept, further promote the in-depth development of the existing industrial spatial layout, and accelerate its innovative construction by promoting new development momentum through scientific and technological innovation.

The province will promote the real economy's development, further promote the optimization and upgrading of the industrial chain and explore the strong domestic market to further tap and release sufficient demand. It will also accelerate the agricultural modernization process to further consolidate the foundation for the development of agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

Furthermore, Jilin will comprehensively promote reform and opening-up, further enhance the vitality and power of development and unswervingly prioritize the environment and green growth. Of course, the province will also make great efforts to guarantee and improve people's livelihoods to enhance citizens' lives.
