The first China (Tongling) International Copper Sculpture Exhibition will be held in Tongling, widely known as the Copper Capital of China, from mid-September to mid-October. During the exhibition, more than 30 sculptures from more than 20 countries and regions will be displayed in their original sizes to showcase copper arts and culture.
Tongling has been holding the Copper Culture Fair for each of the past 10 years. This year’s International Copper Sculpture Exhibition is a new event for the 11th Copper Culture Fair. Since June 2010, when the exhibition began advertising for works to be shown during the fair, more than 30 art works have been selected. Half are from overseas, including works from Spain, Germany, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States.
Tongling officials said a copper sculpture exhibition will be held every two years, and all selected works will become part of a permanent collection to be displayed in a specially built copper sculpture garden.
