Wuhu Fangte Happy World celebrated its five-year anniversary on April 18.
Wuhu Fangte Happy World, a 20-billion yuan ($328 million) project, opened on April 18, 2008, after 13 months of construction. On Dec 8, 2010, Fangte Dream World, another theme park, opened in Wuhu.
To date, the number of tourists received by the two parks has exceeded 14.38 million, and Fangte Happy World alone has received 11.35 million visitors. Fangte Happy World and Dream World have been awarded as a National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base, Anhui Cultural Industry Demonstration Base, Anhui Top Ten Tourism Area and Anhui Top Ten Most Favorable Scenic Area among others.
During the past five years, Fangte Happy World has opened in other provinces like Shandong, Liaoning and Hunan. The parks have been warmly welcomed by local people. In December 2012, the Wuhu municipal government held a meeting to build the Fangte theme park 5A National Tourism Area and proposed a plan to construct Wuhu—China Happy City. The government plans to build more theme parks in the next 5 to 10 years to make Wuhu China’s "Orlando".
Celebrations lasted from April 18 to 21. Visitors to Wuhu Fangte Happy World and Dream World can enjoy a discount on ticket prices at only 100 yuan ($16) for entry. One-hundred free tickets will also be sent to fans through a selection on Sina Weibo.
