Microsoft Accelerator Beijing announced its plans to upgrade its services and brand for alumni companies at its 10th "Demo Day" on Sept 5.
"The 10th Demo Day launches an innovative new model, building a new generation of accelerators with resource integration and ecology sharing," said Wang Lei, head of Microsoft Accelerator Beijing.
More than 300 senior executives from Zhongguancun Science Park, investment institutes, media and alumni of Microsoft Accelerator took park in the event, gaining insights into the future ambition of the world's leading accelerator.
Some 15 outstanding startups selected from over 1,000 entrepreneurial teams revealed their latest products and technologies during the event. Fadada.com, a pioneer in the e-contracts market, and 1M Data, the most professional medical data platform in China, both staged their innovative achievements.
Microsoft Accelerator Beijing, a mentor-driven accelerator, includes an immersive three-to-six-month program. Entrepreneurs go through the challenges of launching a company, finding customers and expanding to global markets. Startups accepted into the program gain access to top business mentors, technical and marketing experts, office space and resources.
The accelerator will integrate leading retail, manufacturing, medical, financial, government and educational resources to accelerate the growth of alumni companies.
Close-door road shows will be held monthly for alumni companies to find investment institutes. Microsoft Accelerator will also customize services for these companies to increase brand influence. Comprehensive services will also be provided for startups, including training, guidance, networking and exposure opportunities.
Microsoft opened its first accelerator in China's Zhongguancun Science Park in 2012. The global initiative empowers entrepreneurs to build competitive companies with all kinds of resources and support services.
A complete ecological system has been built through continuous global explorations of other bases in Tel Aviv, Bangalore and London.
So far, Microsoft has gathered 200 technology-oriented startups in China and 647 at its eight accelerators worldwide. The Beijing accelerator has succeeded in incubating 156 startups in past nine batches, with a total value estimated at more than 50 billion yuan ($7.4 billion).
