The Fujian provincial government has announced that it plans to increase its control over fishing boats, while establishing a fishing boat tranding center as well as the fishing boat access permission mechanism, news.fznews.com.cn has reported.

The owners of fishing boats need a license for the boat and its equipment and need to register it with the office where they have their permanent residence and the same is true of companies.

Government also needs to clarify its policies and offer financial support for the center, in addition to working out specific regulations.

Since the center has branches along the coast, it is expected to provide more services, and every deal should be conducted through the center or its branches. The province of Fujian is expected to limit its number of fishing boats and their size.
