Environment protection authorities in Fujian province exposed 22 enterprises with environmental safety risks at different levels.

The panned enterprises include Fubaotengda Chemical, Fubao Industries, Zhongsheng Plastics, Tianquan Chemical, Huaxin Chemical, Yongfei Chemical, Rongfeng Chemical, Yuanxiang Chemical, Kaixin Food, Youli Carburetor, Qiyuan Electric, Kaidi Painting, Wanqi Mining, Jinsheng Steels, Fujian Plastics and Leather Industrial Co, and Gaorong Resin.

It is the second time this year that Fujian Provincial Department of Environmental Protection published such a list of shame, after the agency dispatched an inspection team to assess enterprises prone to environmental safety risks and that may pose threats to the drinking water.

Fubaotengda Chemical in Shuncang county, Nanping city, for example, was found to be lacking anti-corrosion and anti-seepage precautions for its chemical storage tanks. It doesn’t have monitoring facilities at the sewage draining exit as required, an inspector said.

Though none of the exposed companies have seen a serious contamination accident, the safety loopholes are like time bombs, he added.

The companies have all been ordered to complete rectifications by Oct 31, otherwise they will be suspended from operation or be shut down by local governments.
