The Fujian People's Procuratorate is determined to intensify its anti-corruption efforts in 2015, according to He Zezhong, chief procurator of the Fujian People's Procuratorate, in a conference held during the Third Session of the 12th Fujian People's Congress on January 30.

Statistics show that in 2014, Fujian province filed 1,171 abuse-of-power crime cases with 1,567 government officials incriminated, an 8.14 percent year-on-year increase. Eighty-two cases regarding corruption, bribery and public fund embezzlement with an amount exceeding 1 million yuan ($160,800) were probed. Seventy-nine section level and higher officials were arrested, an increase of 33.9 percent over the prior year. In particular, nine of those officials held senior administrative posts.

“In 2015, the Fujian People's Procuratorate will buckle down on supervising and investigating duty crimes in the province, especially for basic level government officials. Special campaigns against major safety accidents and election bribery will be held from time to time,” He added.

In addition, Ma Xinlan, chief judge of the Fujian Higher People’s Court, said that unreserved support will be given to help Fujian improve its judicial services and maintain social stability in the future.

In 2014, the Fujian Higher People’s Court kept a close eye on cases concerning Taiwan affairs. Jurors from Taiwan were invited to Fujian, and 2,217 cases concerning Taiwan affairs were closed. Meanwhile, the Fujian Higher People’s Court received 4,597 reciprocal judicial assistance cases, a 26.43 percent year-on-year increase.
