A delegation of some 120 overseas Chinese entrepreneurs visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) in Fujian province on March 28 to investigate its development and explore business opportunities.

Pingtan is the guests' first stop. The businessmen, most of whom are from Europe, will also travel to cities of Fuzhou and Xiamen before the inauguration of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

“Pingtan is the most vigorous FTZ in Fujian, with prominent advantages in policy and geography,” said Lin Zechun, an official with the Fujian Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs.

All visitors have showed strong interest in tariff exemption and customs procedures, and many of them intend to invest in Pingtan.

Liao Zhipei, who has done business in Germany for 14 years, said he had already inspected Pingtan five times prior to this trip. And he plans to expand his business after noticing Pingtan’s tremendous changes.

Pingtan has favorable port conditions for overseas trade and can enhance cultural development to attract more people, said Zhang Xiaodong from the United Kingdom.

He Jiajin, also from UK, said he planned to open a company in Pingtan focusing on international remittances, currency exchange and cross-border settlements.
