The city of Pingtan, Fujian province is getting its first intelligent digital electrical substation, which is undergoing trials. The 220 kv Zhuyu Substation marks the end of Pingtan's dependence on power from a submarine cable.

Zhuyu is the first 220 kv intelligent digital substation in Pingtan's Comprehensive Pilot Zone, with the Fuzhou Electric Power Bureau handling the trial work to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

The substation is in the village of Zhuyu, in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, on a 12,733-square-meter plot of land, with a pad area of 9,060 square meters.

The substation is a single three-story building aboveground, with one floor belowground. Pingtan previously had to depend on a submarine cable for its power so this new substation will improve the power situation for better social and economic development of the zone.
