The Dong'ao fishing port in Pingtan has started preliminary work of reef explosion as part of the second stage of its construction of a 5000-ton wharf.

The second stage of the fishing port project, which began on Monday, involves building 17 600-horepower docks on 90,000 square meters of reclaimed sea area in the northern part of the port and 42,000 square meters in the eastern part, said Zhong Guangwei, who is in charge of the project.

Construction is expected to be completed in December, and the Dong'ao fishing port will boast an extended length of 1,623 meters and an expanded water surface area of 610,000 square meters, he said.
