The Fujian branches of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and the China Maritime Arbitration Commission have been inaugurated at the Taiwan Innovation Park in Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province, on Dec 29.

The two commissions, both affiliated to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), said that the aim of setting up the branches is to offer fair and efficient arbitral services to enterprises across the Straits and give strong support to Fujian's free trade zone construction.

Yin Zonghua, deputy head of CCPIT, said that Fujian's preferential policies attract them to open branches there. Yin added that he expected to contribute to the development of the province's economy through professional arbitral services.

Zhang Qiu, head of the Fujian branch of CCPIT, mentioned that the opening of the branches marks the further development of the province's multiple dispute resolution mechanism, since it brought in leading arbitration institutions.

On that day, a liaison office of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Business Council was also inaugurated in Pingtan. The office aims to provide local enterprises with trade and investment opportunities. It also wants to advance trade and economic exchanges and cooperation among Pingtan and other regions and countries along the Maritime Silk Road.
