The winning entries were announced for the fifth Pingtan International Kiteboarding Festival's photo competition on Dec 3.

Taking place in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province, on Sept 20 to 25, the festival had the world's best kiteboarders showing their amazing skills to audiences and keen photographers alike.

The competition encouraged both professional and amateur photographers to capture the most exciting moments during the festival.

After a two-month selection process, six winners for the top three prizes and five excellence award winners were announced. Their works recorded the colorful kites held aloft in the breeze, and the surfers braving the choppy waves.

Winners of the top three prizes were awarded 2,000 yuan ($290), 1,000 yuan, 500 yuan, respectively as well as being given certificates and souvenirs.

The competition was organized by the Freestyle Kiteboarding World Championship, Pingtan Photography Association, and Pingtan Kiteboarding Association.
