The Tongren-Yuping Railway, which starts from Guizhou's Tongren city and goes to Yuping Dong autonomous county, will be officially opened to traffic at the end of this year, the China Railway Corporation announced on Dec 7.
This is the second intercity railway in the province after Guizhou opened its first Guiyang North-Kaiyang Railway in 2015.
At the beginning of the opening, 11 G-series high-speed trains will run along the route, with two additional trains able to be added during busy weekends and holidays.
According to the arrangements of China Railway Corporation, by the end of December 2018, the national railway will have 10 new lines under operation, a combined length of about 2,500 kilometers.
Guizhou will have 47.7 km railways added and the province's total rail length will hit 1,262 km.
The G2990/89, G2994/93, G2996/95 and G1328 will go between Guiyang North Station to Tongren, with the shortest journey time being one hour and 39 minutes. Tongren will also open the G2956/5 train to Guangzhou South Station.
The Anshun-Liupanshui Railway, Guizhou's third intercity railway, is expected to finish its construction next May. The travel time from Liupanshui to Guiyang will be reduced to less than one hour upon its opening at the end of 2019.
