Construction recently started on the first section of Guiyang Metro Line 3 at Tongmuling Station in Huaxi district, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province.
With a total length of 43.03 kilometers, the first section starts at Tongmuling and terminates at Luowan in Wudang district. It spans 29 stations spread throughout 28 sections and runs from south to north.
Construction work is expected to take five years and cost around 32.23 billion yuan ($4.76 billion).
Wang Hao, deputy mayor of the municipal government, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony.
Chen Yan, deputy secretary of the Guiyang CPC committee and the mayor of Guiyang, said that Line 3 will help improve the spatial structure of Guiyang's main urban area, promoting regional integration and development.
The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by Chen Shang, deputy director of the provincial development and reform commission, and Liu Hui, vice-president of China Railway Group Co Ltd.
