According to professionals from the Guizhou Provincial Communication Authority on November 16, the area code of Guiyang, Anshun and Zunyi will be combined to "0851" starting December 20.

The original seven-digit phone numbers will be changed to eight-digit ones by adding an extra number to the front of the original numbers. The digit "8" will be put at the front of numbers from Guiyang. Anshun is "3", and Zunyi is "2". Long-distance and roaming charges are exempt in the above regions.

"Technicians will be designated to guide relevant units to update their devices," said Li Xiang, an officer from the Guizhou Provincial Communication Authority.

Li said, "the action will efficiently promote capital and resource allocation in Guiyang, Anshun and Zunyi."
