When the 11th Guizhou provincial People's Political Consultative Conference held its 4th session, on Jan 26, the province's Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang pointed to the province's shortage of agricultural resources and its irrational approach to production and proposed that they turn to agricultural cloud computing and big data as way to bring opportunities to Guizhou's agriculture.
In support of this, Yin Xiaofen, a Guizhou CPPCC member pointed to how the province has seen some achievements in developing smart agriculture, referring to the use of geographic mapping and data analysis to increase crop yields, cut resource waste and get greater access to markets.
The revolutionary committee also suggested that they improve the smart agricultural system and use China's "Internet Plus" strategy, which focuses on economic growth through combining Internet-based technology with traditional manufacturing.
Guizhou's smart agriculture is expected to combine rural logistics, Internet finance and skilled personnel and advanced technology for production, marketing, pricing, quality control, and rural tourism.
