The first batch of tires was produced at Guizhou Tyre Co's all-steel radial tire production base in Vietnam on April 1, marking the completion of the base's first stage.
The production base in Vietnam's Tien Giang Province has an investment of 1.48 billion yuan ($225.64 million) and is being constructed in three stages. Once completed, the base will cover an area of 301 mu (20.07 hectares) and produce 1.2 million tires per year.
During construction, Guizhou Tyre Co overcame problems caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic and adopted independently developed technologies to complete the first stage of the workshop's construction, which covers an area of 178,000 square meters and involved the installation of 338 sets of production equipment.
The production base is expected to improve Guizhou Tyre Co's comprehensive competitiveness in the global tire market. The company will accelerate the construction of the second and third stages of the production base to contribute to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
According to Guiyang Industrial and Commercial Investment Group Co, the parent company of Guizhou Tyre Co, the Vietnam project represents State-owned companies' efforts to participate in international competition and implement an internationalized development strategy, which is significant to the reform of State-owned enterprises.
