In the morning of Sept 22, the World Car Free Day, 200 bicycle riders went into streets to promote an environment-friendly trip in Pingdingshan city, Henan province.
At 8:00 am, 200 bicycle riders voluntarily gathered at the Eagle City Square to join the cycling activity. The riders wore T-shirts with the slogan of "Green Pingdignshan City, Ride Bicycle for Health".
The bicycle fleet was led by a woman, who has ridden bicycle for tours for three years. She would ride to the New Town District, along with partners, for at least two times each week in the evenings. She would ride bicycle for longer outing at weekends. "Riding a bicycle builds up the body, develops friendships, and improves your mood," she said. She asked for leave to join the activity, because Car Free Day cycling is of great significance.
At 9:20 am, the 200-member cycling team, in pairs, started from the Eagle City Square. They did a circle around the main streets of the city and returned to the square. The team went slowly at constant speed, stretching for several hundred meters. It attracted many onlookers. At 10:20 am, the cycling fans went back to the starting point at the square. They spent one hour to complete the route of 10 kilometers.
