CGGC achieves significant breakthrough in railway market

CGGC wins the front work of the Watang-Tangyin East (including) Section of the newly built Shanxi central & southern railway passage, involving a contract value of 3.241 billion yuan ($533.89 million).

CGGC published an announcement on an important contract on April 8, 2010, saying the company has won the ZNTJ-4 bidding section of the front work of the Watang-Tangyin East (including) Section of the newly built Shanxi central & southern railway passage, involving a contract value of 3.241 billion yuan and a total construction period of 54 months.

The railway passage, jointly invested by the Ministry of Railways, Shanxi Province, Henan Province and Shandong Province, starts with Watang, Xingxian County, Shanxi Province and ends with the south area of the Rizhao Port in Shandong Province. Covering a total length of 1,260 kilometers, the railway passage crosses the Lvliang Mountain, the Taiyue Mountain, the Taihang Mountain and the Yimeng Mountain, and passes three provinces of Shanxi, Henan and Shandong and 12 cities. Its length in Shanxi, Henan and Shandong are 579 kilometers, 255 kilometers and 426 kilometers respectively.

As a first-class railway under China’s railway standard, the railway passage has two lines, adopts electrification and works as a heavy-duty railway with an operating speed of 120km/h. This railway passage, after completion, will play an important role in ensuring the national energy security and promoting China’s economic growth, enhance the regional economic cooperation among Shanxi, Henan and Shandong Provinces, and expedite the economic and social development along the line.

CGGC has been awarded the ZNTJ-4 bidding section with a line length of 63.3 kilometers, and the major work includes land expropriation, relocation, tunnels, bridges, culverts and other works. The project will be undertaken by CGGC Southwest Branch.

In recent years, CGGC has seized the opportunity created by the infrastructure construction program of the state to develop the railway market with greater efforts and attack the market on large scale. So far, CGGC has achieved satisfactory records in this emerging business segment. At present, the company is smoothly pressing ahead with the sixth bidding section of the Hankou-Yichang High-speed Railway and the second bidding section of the Hankou-Xiaogan Railway.
