The first China (Wuxi) Maternity, Baby & Children Industry Fair kicked off at the Taihu International Expo Center, Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, on Dec 11.

More than 200 exhibitors participated in the fair with nearly 500 brands of maternity, baby and children's products on display. According to the organizer, the fair will be held in Wuxi twice every year in the future, at the beginning of June and the end of the year.

The country recently relaxed its more than three-decade-old family planning policy by approving the universal two-child policy, which boosts the maternity and baby products market significantly. At the same time, to ensure the health of their children people have put forward higher demands for the quality of children's products.

At a corner of the industrial fair, an exhibitor is demonstrating an electric baby lifting bed. The bed can be raised up to 82 centimeters to facilitate parents' placing children and changing diapers. When the baby falls asleep, the bed can be lowered down to 32 centimeters so that the baby will not be able to climb out after waking up.

Besides the display of high-end products, the fair also launched many other family activities to promote the relationships between generations.

The exhibition industry is becoming the highlight of the city's service economy. This year, the Taihu International Expo Center hosted 59 different types of exhibitions, greatly contributing to the city's popularity and reputation.
