Zhangjiagang Digital Television Company and Yonglian village at Nanfeng town, Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province, reached an agreement that the 5,000 families in the village will use its service to build a smart community.

The agreement will be a trial of HD cloud media TV for the company.

With an interactive set top box, the 5,000 families will be able to watch TV programs; pay for electricity and water; and learn the village's policies, regulations and latest notices.

After the functions are improved, they can also call for emergency service, make appointments with doctors and go shopping.

Zhangjiagang Digital Television Company started the smart community project in 2013 with an expected investment of 208 million yuan ($33.32 million).

Taking HD cloud media TV as a carrier, the project plans to provide services in information, education, transportation, medical care, finance, TV business and community issues.
