In aid of the 24th World Water Day and the beginning of the 29th China Water Week, the water resource bureau of Zhangjiagang city hosted an activity featuring art performances and a video show to popularize water conservation and water environment protection.

World Water Day is an annual event celebrated on March 22 focusing on the importance of freshwater and advocates for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. This year's theme is "Water and Jobs".

In recent years, the city of Zhangjiagang has made great efforts and achievements in water resource management. With the progress made in flood prevention and drainage, the city's three water cycle systems have finished construction marking the connectivity of urban-rural sub drainage networks and backbone river channels. In addition, a national and a provincial water conservancy scenic spot have opened to the public.

This year, the city will start a new round of ecological construction establishing sound water resource management mechanisms to add beauty to the city's natural landscape.
