Intangible cultural heritage display held in Wanzai county

The second intangible cultural heritage display was held in Wanzai county of Yichun, Jiangxi province on April 6, 2012. Four national and four provincial intangible cultural heritages including Desheng drum, Kaikounuo and grass cloth making techniques were performed and displayed, attracting a large number of tourists.

Wanzai has four national intangible cultural heritages as well as seven provincial, city level and 17 county level ones. The county tops other cities and counties in Jiangxi province in terms of the number of national intangible cultural heritages. Wanzai also has two national intangible cultural heritage inheritors, six inheritors for the provincial level and eight inheritors of the city level.

In 2009, Wanzai Desheng drum won the top prize in the 9th China folk drum dance contest held in Wuyuan of Jiangxi province. The grass cloth made in Wanzai was also selected to be on display at the Shanghai Expo in May of 2010 and at the 3rd International Intangible Culture Expo held in Chengdu in May of 2011.
