A competition of the fifth Hope Classic Charity Golf Tournament came to a close at a golf club in Anting, Shanghai’s Jiading district, on Nov 6 with 300,000 yuan ($49,000) raised by the event.
The event, hosted by Intercontinental Hotels Group, will offer a donation to the Hope Project to improve education in poverty-stricken areas of China.

The group established a charity fund at the China Youth Development Foundation in 2007, which is used to finance Hope Primary Schools, vocational education and university students. By the end of 2013, the fund had raised a total of 28 million yuan and built 28 Hope Primary Schools in the country. It also launched a scholarship project to support poor but excellent students in 2010.
