According to legend, during the reign of Emperor Zhizheng in the Yuan Dynasty (around AD 1277), an eminent monk called Ming Beng, also known as Monk Zhong Feng came to the Xiaokun Mountain and advocated Buddhism in the Sizhou Pagoda Complex. More than 500 people listened to his preaching.

In the mountain, there was a tiger that hunted in the jungle. When Monk Zhong Feng was preaching Buddhist doctrines, the monks and local people found the tiger also listening to the preaching.

One time, a strong lad fought against the tiger and rode on its back. The tiger kicked his rear legs painfully and was on the verge of death. Under its kicking, two deep ponds appeared. Zhong Feng Monk stopped the lad and said "all beings can listen to the preaching of Buddhist doctrines".

In the end, the lad let the tiger go. The tiger soon became a leopard cat and ran into a stone crevice. People named the deep ponds kicked out by the tiger the "Divine Tiger's Den". It is now hidden in the bamboo groves of the Xiaokun Mountain.
