Fixed assets investment in new industries in Shanxi province amounted to 185 billion yuan ($30.4 billion) in the first 9 months of 2013, or 52.3 percent of total fixed-assets investment in Shanxi, which was 353.7 billion yuan.

On a month-on-month basis, fixed-assets investments were up 0.9 percentage point, and during the Jan-Oct period, pharmaceuticals, machinery, and modern coal chemicals play a leading role.
