Tai'an Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone

I. Location and region: Tai'an Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, which is a national-level high-tech zone approved by the State Council in 2012. It was first established in 1994 with the approval of Shandong Provincial People's Government. It governs the built-up area of the east part of Tai'an and the new southern zone with a total planning area of 118 square kilometers, with a population of over 120,000. The new southern zone of planning scope includes the south of Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, the west of Beijing-Shanghai Railway, the north of Shengli Reservoir and the east of Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway. According to the new master plan of Tai'an city, Tai'an Hi-tech Zone will be a new zone of modern landscape tourist city. Tai'an Hi-tech Zone is developing modern industry and high-tech industry as the leading industries, which will be a sub-center of Tai'an City.

II. Infrastructure: Within a few years, the new zone of Tai'an Hi-tech Zone has finished "six vertical and seven horizontal" with a total investment of 2 billion yuan($317.4 million), including power supply, water supply, gas supply, heat supply, pollution discharge and communications. All these can meet the needs of project construction and enterprise production. Additionally, Tai'an Hi-tech Zone is vigorously implementing greening, landscaping, cleaning projects, and speeding up the development of trade, finance, catering hotel and many other fields. At present, the new zone of 50 square kilometers has basically taken shape, and it has had depth and scale development conditions.

III. Management system: The Party Working Committee and Administration of Tai'an Hi-tech Zone represent Tai'an Municipal Committee of the CPC and Tai'an Municipal Government to exercise administrative authority of city-level economy, administration and social affairs. It mainly makes unified leadership and management to Beijipotown. The Administration of Tai'an Hi-tech Zone governs "one office and eight bureaus" and "eight centers". In addition, some other administrative authorities and service units of public facilities have set up branches in the Zone.

IV. Major honours: Tai'an Hi-tech Zone has been successively appraised as Science Development Demonstration Park of Shandong province, Advanced Park of Opening to the Outside World of Shandong province, and Demonstration Park of Safety Standardization of Shandong province as well. It's one of the first projects of Demonstration Base for Energy Saving&Environmental Protection Industry of Shandong province, Intensive Park of Service Industry of Shandong province and Provincial-level Electronic Information Industry Park. It is a Characteristic Industrial Base for Transmission Equipment of National Torch Plan, and Characteristic Industrial Base for Nonmetal New Materials of National Torch Plan as well. It also owns state-level Hi-tech Pioneering Service Center, China Taishan Overseas Students Pioneer Park and Taishan Pioneering Base of Chinese Academicians.

V. Development advantages: Relying on the cultural superiority of Mount Tai, with advantages in energy and resources, location and transportation, talent intelligence, service environment, development space and industrial agglomeration, Tai'an Hi-tech Zone has become a fertile land for attracting investment as well as fields of fortune for undertaking and development of Tai'an.
