With another free evening ahead of me, I asked my guide about an area called Xintiandi. But she suggested I go to Tianzifang, a district that “is the same old style, but still has residents”. I spent the evening wandering around narrow lanes, among the people and in and out of shops.
I wanted a memento of this trip, so I picked up several postcards of the area and Shanghai.
*** Tip: When in doubt about what souvenir to buy, go for postcards. They travel well.
