At a meeting on Monday, the Central Leading Group for Comprehensively Deepening Reform headed by President Xi Jinping, emphasized China should establish a system to ensure fair market competition.

To this end, the family members of senior officials will face strict controls on their involvement in private businesses, a practice that has long drawn complaints from the business sector.

The competition review system will seek to prevent anti-competition activities or nip them in the bud.

Inspection from within and public supervision are expected to work in tandem to make sure all violations of the fair competition rules are properly dealt with.

When meeting with US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew in Beijing in February, Premier Li Keqiang promised that market access will be broadened in an environment of fair competition through streamlined administration, delegated power and mass entrepreneurship.
