GKN China Holding?obtained its business license on June 25th, 2007 and has a registered capital of?$30m USD. In 2008, the Company was awarded Regional Headquarters status by the Shanghai Pudong government.

First JV established in China in 1988. Shanghai GKN Drive Shaft Company, SDS, was established in 1988 as a Joint Venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation. Since then, SDS has become the market leader in driveline products in China and in October 2008 celebrated its 20th anniversary.

At its Torque Technology facility, established in 2007 in Shanghai, GKN manufactures a range of geared power transmission products and torque management devices for 2 Wheel Drive and All Wheel Drive vehicles. Its engineering team can provide world-class driveline system and vehicle engineering support.

GKN Zhongyuan Cylinder Liner Company, GKNZ, is a joint venture established by GKN and Henan Zhongyuan Engine Fittings Stock Company. GKNZ possesses state of the art foundry and testing equipment and, equipped with the most advanced gauges and process technology available, GKNZ has world class research and development capabilities. GKNZ supplies cylinder liners domestically and for export to the world's leading engine manufactures.

GKN Wheels Liuzhou was established in 2006 following the acquisition of the Liuzhou Steel Rim Factory from the Liuigong Group. It has been developed into a world class market leading facility for the production of wheels for construction machinery, harbour cranes, fork lift trucks, agricultural machinery and automobiles, ranging in size from 4" to 63". its customers are located within China and in the Asia Pacific region.

The Company replaced the former "GKN China Representative Office" which had been in existence for the previous 10 years.
