When the hazardous goods warehouse of Ruihai International Logistics, in the city of Tianjin, exploded on Aug 12, the Jingdong Co in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, or E-town, immediately sent food, beverages, water and first-aid supplies there. At the same time, the Beijing Heartland Foundations Engineering Corp, a construction company in E-town, arranged volunteers and contacted Beijing's volunteer service federation's emergency rescue team and got ready to go to the disaster site for rescue operations.
The volunteers went to Tianjin's relief goods facility, on Aug 13, after receiving notice from the emergency rescue team. And took 10,000 medical gauze masks with them and handed out relief supplies. Heartland volunteers also contacted Jingdong to help deliver instant noodles, bottled drinking water and antiseptic tissues to those in need at the disaster area.
