At the First Smart China Expo held on August 23, Beibei district signed a contract with CASICloud to jointly build a Chongqing cloud manufacturing industry base in Beibei. The project will further Beibei's efforts to be a smart city and to speed up the development of its smart technology industries.

According to statistics, the output value of Beibei's smart technology industrial enterprises of smart manufacturing equipment, artificial intelligence hardware, artificial intelligence robots and automobile electronics accounted for more than 50 percent of the total industrial output value of the whole region in the first half of this year, an increase of 11.8 percent over the same period last year.

"In the future, big data and the artificial intelligence industry will be the pillar of Beibei's economy,"a director of the district economic commission said.

The district will help enterprises upgrade to cloud technology through the industrial internet platform, promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. It will introduce a number of AI enterprises and major projects to set up an improved AI industrial chain, speeding up the industrialization of AI technology.

Currently, Beibei has signed cooperative agreements with Inspur Group, YOUE Data and three other technology companies to jointly push forward the construction of the whole industry chain of digitized and smart city based on the these companies' advantages in cloud container, cloud computing, big data and internet plus.

In June, Beibei signed a cooperative agreement with the second research institute of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited. The two sides will take the construction of a smart city in Beibei District as an opportunity to set up the Smart Beibei Innovation research institute, building a cloud platform for smart aerospace.

It will carry out the constructions of smart parks, public safety, communication, pipe networks, environment protection, security supervision and smart manufacturing, aiming at building Beibei into a smart and technological industrial city. The construction of "Smart Beibei" is expected to be completed by 2020.

"Smart city" is not only a technological system but also a new urban ecological system that supports the effective operations of government, business and citizens. It is people oriented and is designed to improve living conditions and business operations. The construction of a smart city in Beibei will improve the comprehensive competitiveness of Beibei and create a better urban life for its residents.
