Private hot springs

A new hotel, the Renlinwan Resort & Spa, which integrates the health benefits of a hot spring with a soul-uplifting natural landscape, has now opened in Beijing.

Covering an area of 60,000 sq m in its first stage, it has a 70 percent green cover.

"It has 48 pools in a 3,000-sq-m hot spring area indoors, while the 7,000-sq-m outdoor area has excellent landscape views," says Li Zhicheng, the hotel's general manager. Its hot spring waters comes from more than 2,000 m below the surface of the earth, Li says.

A cool new feature of the resort is that all the guest rooms come with their own mini-hot spring pools, making it convenient for people who do not like go to the public hot spring.

There are also nine pools outside for small gatherings of family and friends, that include facilities for playing mahjong and cards, or just chatting.

"Many people think it is not good to take a bath in a hot spring in summer, but it actually helps rid the body of toxins that is otherwise difficult to do in the summer. It is different from a winter experience."

The natural minerals found in the waters of a hot spring are known to have therapeutic value. The hotel's professional staff also soak traditional Chinese herbs in the water to enhance its health benefits and can offer advice on the most appropriate therapy.

The hotel also has two auditoriums and chambers for meetings that cater to both locals and foreigners, with the full-range of facilities that will include teleconferencing and simultaneous interpretation, by the end of the year.

The dining hall has both Western and special Chinese dishes that promise oodles of good health.

A Chinese restaurant offers a variety of Chinese cuisine - from Cantonese and Sichuan to Huaiyang and Hunan - while the Yatai restaurant has popular Thai foods prepared by chefs from Thailand.

More than 200 international standardized guestrooms, 69 VIP suites with individual hot springs are also available to meet a variety of needs.

The second stage of the project will have conference building and golf facilities.

The resort is easily accessible from the airport expressway and can be reached in about 50 minutes from downtown.
