Mental Health Support Group

Date: Dec 22-7:30 pm

Venue: Rosewood Beijing

Price: Free

Moving to a new country, going through a breakup, a loss of a job, or living with metal conditions is very challenging. Yet, there's no reason to suffer alone when one can choose to join hands with others and let the power of connection and group support heal us.

In the absence of such social support, CandleX is making an effort to provide a safe environment for people living in Beijing to share personal experiences, thoughts, and feelings in small, confidential gatherings. This is the new endeavor of CandleX, a project in Beijing that focuses on the mental health by awareness raising on depression and bi-polar disorder. This is a continuing effort to provide more support to our Beijing English speaking community.

Participants: Our support groups are for people with any mental conditions ranging from anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression or people who are dealing with difficult situations in life.

Broadway Musical Man of La Mancha in Shanghai

Date: Dec 19-Jan 10-7:15 pm

Venue: People Grand Theater

Price: 150-880 yuan

Man of La Mancha is a musical with a book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion and music by Mitch Leigh. It is adapted from Wasserman's non-musical 1959 teleplay I, Don Quixote, which was in turn inspired by Miguel de Cervantes and his seventeenth-century masterpiece Don Quixote. It tells the story of the "mad" knight, Don Quixote, as a play within a play, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition. The work is not, and does not pretend to be, a faithful rendition of either Cervantes' life or of Don Quixote.
