huMADRID - The Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) reported Wednesday that Spain will have almost 6 million people unemployed in 2013.

According to the data released by the business organization, despite the labor reform adopted by the Spanish government, unemployment will continue to grow and in 2012 will reach 5.8 million people.

This means that the unemployment rate will be 25.2 percent in 2012 and will reach 26.5 percent in 2013.

This report also revealed data on economic growth. The CEOE said that the Spanish economy will contract by 1.6 percent in 2012 and in 2013.

These data do not correspond to those provided by the Spanish government, which forecasted that the Spanish GDP would contract by 1.5 percent in 2012 and 0.5 percent in 2013.

Regarding the Spainsh government, the CEOE says it will not be able to meet the deficit targets. Spain should reach 6.3 percent of deficit and according to the report released on Wednesday it will reach 6.9 percent in 2012.

In 2013 the Spanish deficit will be 4.9 percent, meanwhile the European Union asks for a 4.5 percent.

The CEOE worsens its forecast since last March when it reported that the Spanish GDP would contract by 0.7 percent and the unemployment rate would be 23.9 percent in 2013.

This is because domestic demand has worsened along with the international context perspectives.
