Tech at Asian Games 2022 to be 'intelligent': Official
Hangzhou, the host city for the 19th Asian Games in 2022, will take full advantage of the Games to escalate the city's infrastructure and urban management levels, a top municipal official pledged.
"By 2022, a total of over 450 km of metro lines will be put into operation in Hangzhou, greatly improving the transportation conditions of the city," said Chen Weiqiang, the city's vice-mayor.
He spoke on the sidelines of a ceremony held during the weekend that marks domestic automaker Geely becoming the official prestige partner of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
"We will push ahead the applications of technologies, such as 5G telecommunications and driverless vehicles, to make the Asian Games in Hangzhou a truly intelligent one," Chen said.
"As the nation's first domestic automaker to obtain the status of an official partner of large-scale comprehensive continental sporting events such as the Asian Games in Hangzhou, we will bring forward our cutting-edge driverless and internet connectivity technologies to make the event a green and intelligent one," said An Conghui, president and CEO of Geely Auto Group, at Saturday's signing ceremony.
Saturday's event also witnessed Olympic champion Sun Yang becoming the image ambassador for Geely's Asian Games campaign.
