A mainland spokeswoman on Monday condemned remarks made by a politician of the Democratic Progressive Party, the ruling party of Taiwan, over mainland activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers' entering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to fight in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53).

Su Tseng-chang, chief of the island's executive body, warned the mainland "not to threaten the Taiwan people with war" as the mainland held a series of activities to mark the anniversary.

Zhu Fenglian, a spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said, "Su is used to turning black and white."

"He deliberately provoked confrontation between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, intimidating the people of Taiwan. He has a sinister intention," Zhu said.

At present, the biggest threat to peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits is that DPP authorities have stepped up their ties with foreign forces and constantly carried out provocations for ''Taiwan independence", she said.

"Taiwan compatriots are our blood-bonded relatives, and 'Taiwan independence' is the greatest disaster of them," Zhu said.

The DPP authorities and the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces attempt to drag them into a serious disaster and the majority of Taiwan compatriots will not be fooled, she said.
