Italian fashion brand Prada launched a conversation at SKP-S Rendez-Vous book store in Beijing on Dec 9 to promote the protection of the sea.

Chinese surfer Monica Guo Shujuan, actor Luo Jin, swimmer Ning Zetao and architect and professor Lyla Wu Di from Tongji University shared the stage. In a discussion entitled "Ocean: Source of Tomorrow", they talked about ocean resources and conservation, and how to protect it and practice sustainablility.

This is part of Prada's social responsibility project Possible Conversation. As part of that mission, Prada launched its re-nylon collection in 2019. They collect plastic, fishing nets in the ocean and other landfilled waste and textiles to recycle into a fabric called re-nylon. They then use this fabric to produce clothes, shoes, bags and accessories to promote a sustainable business model.

Following the conversation, guests explored Prada's Re-Nylon pop-up store at SKP-S to see a special installation, with a projected short video "What We Carry" produced by National Geographic on the décor-style dome and wall, highlighting the sustainability codes of the project through the presentation of natural element animations and nylon recycling production techniques.

Prada also collaborates with UNESCO and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission to launch an education program "Sea Beyond" in secondary schools in 10 cities throughout the world — Berlin, Mexico, Johannesburg, Lisbon, London, Milan, New York, Paris, Shanghai and Venice — to raise awareness of ocean protection among the new generation.
