Wang Dengfeng, head of the department of physical health and arts education at the Ministry of Education, said in a news conference on Monday that the 15-day event celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and provides an opportunity to showcase the achievements made by Chinese people in their fight against COVID-19.
The event will "impress the world and is a source of national pride", said Wang, who is also the secretary-general of the event's organizing committee.
