Getting there: You can take high-speed trains to Jiayuguan Railway Station or Jiayuguan South Railway Station, or fly to Jiayuguan Jiuquan Airport to start your journey. Jiayuguan Railway Station is the closest to the scenic area, about 15 minutes by taxi. The airport and south station are roughly 30 minutes by car. Local buses from downtown Jiayuguan also reach the site.
Ticket: During peak season (May 1-Oct 31), it costs 110 yuan ($16) per person. In the off-season (Nov 1-April 30), it costs 90 yuan. Admission includes Jiayuguan pass, the Hanging Great Wall and the First Beacon Tower of the Great Wall. Tickets are valid for three days and can be used multiple times. A round-trip shuttle bus connecting the three attractions costs 20 yuan.
Tips: Because the fortress sits on the edge of the Gobi Desert, UV exposure can be intense. Sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and umbrellas are strongly recommended.
