The People's Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command has organized naval and air forces to monitor and track a Dutch shipborne helicopter throughout its transit in the Taiwan Strait and adopted effective response measures, a spokesperson of the theater said on Friday.
Since May 27, the shipborne helicopter of the Dutch frigate HNLMS De Ruyter has illegally intruded into the airspace over China's Xisha Islands and subsequently transited the Taiwan Strait, Senior Colonel Xu Chenghua said.
Xu added that the theater command's troops remain on high alert at all times and will resolutely safeguard China's national sovereignty and security, as well as regional peace and stability.
