Food safety task force probes antibiotic levels in pork
The State Council's food safety office has established a working group to oversee the investigation into excessive antibiotic levels found in pork produced by Wangkui Shuanghui Beidahuang Food Co in Heilongjiang province, according to a statement released Friday on the WeChat account of the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Following media reports on the food safety violations, the office formed a joint task force with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the State Administration for Market Regulation.
The group has traveled to the site to supervise the investigation, guide verification and handling efforts, crack down on illegal activities and ensure the safety standards of edible agricultural products are upheld, the statement said.
