Hang Kan, vice principal of Shanxi University

Hang Kan, born in May 1965 in Nantong, in Jiangsu province, is the vice principal of Shanxi University and a professor. He is also a doctoral supervisor and now serves as the director of the professional committee for the Song, Liao (916-1125), Jin (1115-1234), Yuan (1271-1368), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties in the Institute of Archaeology and a judge for the National Social Science Fund of China.

In 1982, Hang was admitted to the Department of Archaeology at Zhengzhou University.

In July 1986, Hang began working at the Henan Institute of Ancient Architecture Protection.

In 1992, Hang was admitted to the Department of Archaeology at Peking University.

In 1998, Hang obtained a doctorate from Peking University.

In September 1998, Hang began working in the Shanghai Museum.

In November 2003, Hang began working in the Shanghai Municipal History Museum.

In September 2007, Hang began working in the School of Archaeology and Museology at Peking University.

Hang's research focuses on the archaeology on Buddhist, the Song and Yuan dynasties, as well as cultural heritage.

In recent years, Hang has published more than 40 academic papers and participated in the organizing of around 20 large-scale exhibitions.

Hang was also selected by the Ministry of Education to join the New Century Programme for the Talented, obtained the honorable title of the Top 10 Teacher in Peking University, and won second prize for the Teaching Achievements competition set up by the Ministry of Education.
