GUANGZHOU -- An intelligent tracking system has been adopted by China Southern Airlines to improve its freight transport efficiency.
The tracking and management system was presented during the opening of the airline's domestic freight station in Guangzhou city Wednesday, in Guangdong province.
Every piece of freight in the station has a unique bar code. The code is scanned and its status uploaded to the airline system during every section of its logistics progress.
Passengers can scan the bar code on their air tickets to get instant information regarding their luggage, according to an airline employee.
The freight station of China Southern Airlines covers more than 100,000 square meters, and has an annual capacity of 800,000 tonnes.
