Zhang Tiancai：Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice principal of Shanxi University

Zhang Tiancai, was born in Jiangjin, Chongqing in April, 1966. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and a distinguished professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program -- and now a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice principal of Shanxi University.

Zhang also served as a council member of the Chinese Physical Society, director of the Quantum Optics Professional Committee of the Chinese Physical Society, chairman of the Shanxi Physical Society and was a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Optics and Frontiers of Physics.

In 1988, Zhang graduated from Sichuan University.

In 1991, Zhang obtained a master’s degree in physics from Shanxi University.

In 1998, Zhang obtained a doctorate in optical science from Shanxi University.

In 1993 and 1999, Zhang worked as a visiting scholar at the Orsay Institute of Optics at the National Science Center of France for quantum optical experiments.

From 2000 to 2001, Zhang worked for a postdoctoral degree at the California Institute of Technology in the United States; he engaged in experimental research in quantum information.

Professor Zhang Tiancai has long been engaged in experimental and theoretical research in quantum optics and cold atomic physics. He deals mainly with the preparation, manipulation and measurement of quantum states, cavity quantum electrodynamics and quantum metrology. Zhang has published more than 170 academic papers, participated in the publication of three books and obtained six national invention patents.

In recent years, Zhang has hosted 20 national-level and provincial and ministry-level scientific research projects; and is responsible for the Changjiang Scholar and Innovation Team Development Plan.

Zhang was also selected by the Ministry of Education to join the New Century Programme for the Talented and won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress.
